Meet Rob Hobkinson

Rob Hobkinson

Peak Golf Performance is led by Rob Hobkinson; Chartered Physiotherapist, Strength and Conditioning Coach, PGA Professional and Member of the UK Strength and Conditioning Association.

Rob has specialised in golf for more than 25 years. Through Peak Golf Performance he brings together the 3 disciplines of strength and conditioning, physiotherapy and golf, to deliver completely bespoke and highly supportive programmes.  The focus being on building and supporting golfers at all levels.

Ten years on tour

For the last decade Rob has been travelling the world supporting elite professional golfers on the European and PGA Tours. He has been instrumental in a swift rise through the world rankings of a number of elite professionals. His responsibilities on tour relate to all aspects of the athlete’s physical fitness, training, injury prevention and rehabilitation. The aim at all times being to develop golfers’ physical strength, power, stamina and flexibility to drive results on the golf course

Origins of Peak Performance

In 2011, frustrated by the almost complete focus on technique often taken at the expense of fitness, health and physical capability - as well as the apparent lack of objectivity around swing assessment and performance development - Rob set up Peak Golf Performance with a focus on elite professional golf.

This last decade has seen significant changes in the importance of physical capability, fitness, strength and health to the approach of dedicated golfers.  Rob is now able to offer this previously exclusively elite level insight and support to golfers at all stages of their golfing journey.

Career Path

Living and breathing golf from a very young age, Rob started his career at 17 as a PGA Professional; moving to specialise in the biomechanics and physiology of golf through a degree Sport and Exercise Science at Leeds Metropolitan University. Following this he completed a Masters in Physiotherapy and is now a Chartered Physiotherapist and member of the UKSCA working across a range of sports, but with a clear specialism in golf.

He is also a Sport Science lecturer for the PGA and Clinical Director at a boutique Physiotherapy Clinic in the North of England. Rob has a Masters in Strength and Conditioning from the University of Central Lancashire. Rob is working across the PGA Tour and the DP World tour, at the time of writing current clients include: Nicolai and Rasmus Højgaard, Yannik Paul, Jordan Smith and Lorenzo Scalise.
